WHY I AM A ROTARIAN?

By: Marco Kappenberger (k@samoa.ws)

Besides the most enjoyable and unique local and global fellowship Rotary offers to its members,  as Rotary acts serving humankind to reach its object, Rotary is today among the few very best non- governmental organizations of civil society, and, as such, Rotary has the greatest potential to effectively contribute towards lasting world Peace soonest possible !

Rotary's making possible the elimination of Polio is an exemplary success, but it's only one of very many more successes Rotary has the potential and ability to serve humankind with, and do so at practically no monetary investment, but rather thanks to Rotary's global membership of clubs and of committed Rotarians who are top experts in the many fields for sustainable development and Peace the UN is active and leads humankind in.

RI's consultative status with the United Nations (UN), combined with the Rotarian Action Groups serving humankind globally in their fields of expertise and supporting the United Nations' action appears to be a win win situation for the Object of Rotary and humankind.

My maternal grandfather, Rodolfo Gansser, was one of the first Rotarians of the Rotary Club of Lugarno/Switzerland, and, in 1961, back from a youth exchange experience, he introduced me to Rotary by also inviting me to hold the first of my about ten dozen talks to Rotary clubs in all continents and regions, which, besides the fellowship, allowed me to appreciate the huge potential of Rotary for world peace and sustainable development.

That's all why I'm Rotarian.
