Paul Harris was a frequent visitor to Florida. On one occasion, to mark the 32nd anniversary of the founding of Rotary, he was invited to be the guest speaker at the Fort Myers Club.
To his surprise, he learned that one of the club directors was called Chesley Perry, the name of one of Rotary's long standing officers and a great friend of Paul Harris in Chicago. The Floridian was business manager of the local Fort Myers News Press and Harris insisted that the two be photographed together.

Chet , as he was more commonly known, joined Rotary in April 1935, becoming club President in 1942 and District Governor in 1954. During this time, he also became President and publisher of the News Press.
