Dr. Muhammad Yunus, the Bangladeshi economist who pioneered the idea of micro-credit loans that inspired many Rotary projects, won the 2006 Nobel Peace Prize but at the Singapore Convention, was presented with the "Award for World Understanding", for his work helping the poor start businesses through micro-credit loans from Grameen Bank.
