According to James P. Walsh, writing in "The First Rotarian." 1979, "He and Harris remained close friends for the next thirty-five years and the Meads for frequent visitors to Comely Bank. One the great pioneers of Rotary, Mead Died on 24 May 1954. Such was his prestige in the native city, a street is name after him."
