Magicians

In 1991 Jim Toth (Rotary Club of Regina, Canada) was asked by RI, along with PDG Howard Killough to reactivate the Fellowship of Rotarian Magicians. Jim, a professional magician himself, served as President from 1991 to 2008 when he left Rotary. During his tenure the Fellowship often had a booth at the International Convention entertaining passersby and recruiting members. The torch was picked up in 2008 by RGHF member PDG Jim Lang (Rotary Club of Trumbull, CT USA) and Stanley Sorrentino (Rotary Club of Providence, RI USA) and the Fellowship began to rely primary on electronic communications (website, email and telephone).

Probably the most famous Rotarian Magician was also India’s most famous magician “The Great” P.C. Sorcar (Rotary Club of South West Calcutta). Sorcar (1913-1971) toured the world as one of the finest magicians of the day.
