St George's Park, Port Elizabeth

The Rotary Club of Port Elizabeth, the third club in South Africa, was chartered on 25 April 1925. On the occasion of Paul and Jean Harris’ visit to the club in 1934, Paul planted a Norfolk Pine tree in our city park which is still there today. It bears the inscription from Paul Harris, “Witness humbly, build bravely, love widely”. The picture taken in Port Elizabeth shows: Paul Harris, Jean Harris and DG Cecil Buchanan (a Past President of the Port Elizabeth Rotary Club)
