PEACE & FRIENDSHIP MONUMENTS: Honorary Member Edward W. (Ted) Lollis is a former US Army officer, geographic analyst, retired Foreign Service Officer, and one-time Rotarian in Bordeaux, France, who now lives in Knoxville, Tennessee. 

He has studied at Yale, Princeton, MIT, the University Wisconsin (Madison), and the University of Melbourne (Australia).  As a geology student, he worked in Canada and the Dominican Republic.  As a career Foreign Service Officer specialized in Africa, international energy policy, and development economics, he served in Washington, Kigali (Rwanda), Paris, Abidjan (Cote d'Ivoire), Lagos (Nigeria), London, and Bordeaux.  Ted was a member of the Rotary Club de Bordeaux from 1985 until 1987.  Having organized ceremonies at two different friendship monuments (in Le Verdon, France, and in Oak Ridge, Tennessee), he is now researching peace, international friendship, and freedom/liberty monuments worldwide. 

He joined forces with Rotary Global History Fellowship in January of 2006.

"I believe that a wider awareness of such monuments will help promote a culture of peace and thereby inhibit society's recourse to war and violence."
