PDG Dave Ewing, USA, chairman for District History Representatives

Dave is a past president and owner of Ewing Chevrolet, Inc. in Canton, Ohio. A life resident of the Canton area, Dave is very committed and involved with numerous local organizations and not-for-profit charities.  He was recognized by the Greater Stark County Area Chamber of Commerce with the Award of Appreciation as an outstanding business person for positive community growth and development.  Currently he serves as trustee of the Ohio & Erie Canalway Coalition, a private, non-profit organization working on the development of the Ohio & Erie Canal Heritage Canalway.  This organization will establish a trail and greenway plan for the counties of Cuyahoga, Summit, Stark and Tuscarawas utilizing the assets of the old Ohio & Erie Canal.  In addition it seeks to preserve and interpret the natural, historical and recreational resources throughout the corridor. 

Dave and Penni have been married for over 40 years and enjoy classic cars, traveling and watching their daughter Amy who is a performer and rider in the “World Famous Lipizzaner Stallions Show” 2008 Tour as it travels throughout major cities in the US and Canada.

A Rotarian since 1973, Dave served Rotary as club president in 1989-90 and District 6650 Governor in 1996-97.  Introduced to Rotary by his father, PDG Stan Ewing a Rotarian of over 60 years, Dave has experienced many aspects of Rotary service.  He and his wife Penni hosted exchange students from Denmark and Brazil.  They attended RI Conventions in Seoul, Korea; Calgary, Canada; and Glasgow, Scotland.   In addition to serving on many club and district committees, Dave was instrumental in establishing the Ohio Rotary License Plate program.  This statewide initiative has collected over $80,000 for The Rotary Foundation to date and is still ongoing.

Dave is a Major Donor to The Rotary Foundation, a Charter Bequest Society member and has received the Foundation’s Citation for Meritorious Service and Distinguished Service Award.
