PDG James Angus, Honorary Member District 5580, 1992-93; RC of Orillia, D7010, 2000 co-recipient "Four Avenues of Service Citation for Individual Rotarians" Jim is a native of Muskoka, a holiday region in central Ontario. He is a graduate of the University of Toronto with BA, Bed, and MEd degrees and a PhD in Educational Administration from the University of Alberta, Edmonton. Jim retired from a long and varied career in education, serving as a classroom teacher, principal, college master, university professor and dean, in may parts of Canada as well as overseas with Canada’s foreign aid program. Jim is the author of several books and numerous papers. Most recently he served as senior editor of Rotary Zone 22’s centennial history "Under the Northern Lights"

Some of Jim’s recent community and public service activities are as follows: governor, Ontario Institute for Studies in Education, Toronto; member, the National Parole Board; member, Trent-Severn Waterway Advisory Committee; director, Ontario Heritage Trust; president, Orillia Historical Society; president, Coldwater Mill Heritage Foundation; director, Orillia Museum of Art and History.

Jim has been a Rotarian since 1969. He served as president of the Port Arthur/Lakehead Rotary Club and governor of District 5580. He is now a member of the Orilllia Rotary Club in District 7010. During 36 years in Rotarian, Jim has served on many, club, district and zone committees, most on international and Rotary Foundation program committees. Rotary awards include the following: Presidential Citation, 1984; Rotary Foundation District Service Award; Four Avenues of Service Citation; Director’s Citation for “time and commitment in the production of the Zone History Anthology entitled: “Under the Northern Lights.” Jim is married to Patricia. They have four children and 14 grandchildren. Jim joined rotaryfirst100 in November of 2005 to chair the large Canada Rotary History section.
