ROTARY/AFRICA In 1920 Johannesburg, South Africa was formed. 9 of the 10 original clubs are still active. Their histories are beginning to be developed.

 ROTARY/ASIA With the creation of Rotary Club of Manila in 1919, Rotary spanned the Pacific Ocean. rotaryfirst100.org/clubs/cities pays tribute to our brothers and sisters of the Pacific Rim with this special section.

FIRST 100 CITIES OF  ROTARY/NORTH AMERICA  At our "First 100 Cities" section you will find a condensed version of the past century. You'll also find links to the first 100 club's histories and their communities. Reading "between the lines" in these club histories is fascinating. The "First 100 Clubs" are in the United States, Canada and also the United Kingdom. And because on the Sunday in March 1914, when the 100th club was elected, and there happened to be five (5) other equally qualified applications also on that same desk, we have now elected to honor the "RotaryFirst100+" of that Day in March. ROTARY/IRELAND & UK The history of the early clubs of Great Britain and Ireland In 1911, very early in Rotary Global History, there were clubs active in Ireland, England and Scotland. ROTARY/CANADA The history of the first seven clubs of Canada belonging to the "First100" of Rotary and other highlights of great Rotary moments from the Maple Leaf Nation.
ROTARY/LATIN AMERICA A new section to explore the early clubs such as Montevideo, Rio de Janeiro, Sao Paulo and Buenos Aires.

WHEN DID ROTARY BECOME "INTERNATIONAL?" Winnipeg, was organized on 3 November 1910 and chartered on 13 April 1912. Rotary continued to be called the "National Association of Rotary Clubs" until after the "Charter" of Winnipeg and the convention of 1912 in Duluth, Minnesota, USA. At that time, Rotary became the International Association of Rotary Clubs. London was also chartered that year.

So, when did Rotary become "international?" Most early clubs and even clubs today have an attachment to their "organizational" date rather than their "Charter." But, "officially" it would have to be said that in 1910, there was a club "organized" outside of the US. Therefore we were an "international" organization, were we not? But, Rotary did not "officially" call itself "international" until August 1912.  Bottom line: Rotary became "International" in 1910!
