Western Maharashtra has a history which dates back for last 3000 years. Lord Ram lived in exile in the forests about 3000 years back. It was ruled by Yadav kings for nearly 1200 years. Moguls ruled for next 400 years. Famous King Shivaji and his dynasty ruled till the arrival of the British. Leaders like Tilak and Agarkar played a great role in the freedom struggle. Several Temples, Caves, forts and monuments are the witness for this glorious history even today.

After the nation's independence this district has developed into one of the most industrialised and developed part of the country.

People are warm and friendly. Food is tasty and has a great variety.
