THE DISTRICTS 2200 & 2210 HISTORY

HISTORIA de ROTARY en ESPAÑA HISTORY OF ROTARY IN SPAIN
El primer club constituido en España fue el RC Madrid con el nº 806 y cuya carta constitutiva es de 22 de octubre de 1920, siendo en ese momento el primer club de Europa Continental. Su sede era el Hotel Palas. Su primer presidente fue Florestán Aguilar (1), que luego , en 1928, fue el primer gobernador del distrito español (aunque muchos escritos se refieren a un importador de café Crótido de Simón, como primer impulsor de un club en España). Quedaba España en el Distrito 60 y cuyos Gobernadores fueron: 1927-1928 FLORESTAN AGUILAR del RC Madrid 1928-1929 JOSE R. CARLES del RC Barcelona 1929-1930 SALVADOR ECHEANDIA GAL del RC Madrid 1930-1931 JOSE Mª ROVIRALTA del RC. Barcelona 1931-1932 MIGUEL MANTECON del RC. Zaragoza 1932-1933 DOMINGO MENDIZÁBAL del RC. Madrid 1933-1934 JOSE GASTALVER del RC. Sevilla 1934-1935 JUAN MIGOYA del RC. Bilbao 1935-1936 FRANCISCO BASTOS del RC. Barcelona   En 1936 con la guerra civil se suspenden, las reuniones, había 31 clubes y 812 rotarios. Desde 1964 se estaban haciendo gestiones que no fructificaron y no será hasta el 18 de mayo de 1976, cuando se legaliza al Rotary Club de Madrid que tiene como fecha de su 2ª Carta Constitutiva el 6 de junio de 1977 con el nº 12616 siendo su sede de nuevo el H. Palas   Son entonces Consejeros Administrativos de RI en España: 1978-1979 BERNARDO GUZMAN 1979-1980 PIERRE DAVID 1980-1981 CANDIDO L. GARCIA SANJUAN 1981-1982 MEINRAD BUSSLINGUER A partir de 1982 se crea el Distrito 220 (ESPAÑA) y son Gobernadores: 1982-1983 SEBASTIAN ENSEÑAT del RC. Madrid 1983-1984 JOSE Mª ORLANDO del RC. San Sebastián 1984-1985 MAXIMO FERNÁNDEZ del RC. Barcelona 1985-1986 ANTONIO QUES del RC. Mallorca 1986-1987 SALVADOR BUENDÍA del RC. Benalmadema - Mijas 1987-1988 MEINARD BUSSILINGER del RC. Madrid 1988-1989 MANUEL BORDES del RC. Valencia 1989-1990 EDUARDO FERNANDEZ DE CALEYA del RC. Sta. Cruz de Tenerife 1990-1991 ANTONIO JIMÉNEZ del RC. Badajoz   A partir de aquí se crean dos Distritos el 2200 (sur de España e islas) y el 2210 (mitad norte). Siendo entonces Gobernadores:

 

The first club to be founded in Spain was the RC Madrid, nº 806, who received its constitutional chart on 22 October 1920, being at the time the first club in continental Europe. It met at the Hotel Palas. The first president was Mr Florestan Aquilar (1), who later, in 1928, became the first Governor of the Spanish district (Many documents, however, refer to a coffee importer, Mr Crótido de Simon as the first person to support the idea of a club in Spain.) Madrid 1933-1934 JOSE GASTALVER - RC. Sevilla 1934-1935 JUAN MIGOYA - RC. Bilbao 1935-1936 FRANCISCO BASTOS - RC. Barcelona   In 1936, with the civil war, the meetings are suspended. San Sebastián 1984-1985 MAXIMO FERNÁNDEZ - RC. Barcelona 1985-1986 ANTONIO QUES - RC. Mallorca 1986-1987 SALVADOR BUENDÍA - RC. Benalmadema - Mijas 1987-1988 MEINARD BUSSILINGER - RC. Madrid 1988-1989 MANUEL BORDES - RC. Valencia 1989-1990 EDUARDO FERNANDEZ DE CALEYA - RC. Sta. Cruz de Tenerife 1990-1991 ANTONIO JIMÉNEZ - RC. Badajoz   From then on two districts were created: District 2200 (South of Spain and Archipelagoes) and 2210 (North of Spain). Its governors were:
