This is a Suggested Template for a District History

THE HISTORY OF DISTRICT (eg 9999), (eg. Greece)

A Part of Our History of Rotary in (eg Europe)

1. Begin with a brief description of the geographical area of your district. (Photographs will make it more readable).
2. Then try to name the first district in your country or region.
3. Be the first to create a family tree of all the districts in your region or country. If one exists already, ensure that your district
    is recorded correctly.
4. Record the year in which your district was created and from which other district was it born.
5. Name the oldest club in your district, as it is now. When was it started?  Was it formed by an individual or another club?
Which district was it in at that time?  Provide details of its initial meeting and charter date; link to its web sites (if they have
    one).
6. Contact the club and suggest that they provide their history to RGHF. We can link and insert it under your district history
    page.
7. You can repeat this for up to 10 of your oldest clubs.
8. Using the oldest club as a starting point, construct a genealogical tree of the other clubs in your district. Include clubs that
have closed or moved to another district.
Some later clubs may have been started by clubs no longer in your district. Show this but show also where they are now.
If District numbers were not yet allocated, note it (eg "Undistricted" or "Provisional District A".
9. Describe, in brief, changes to your district boundaries, especially if the changes have brought in clubs already created by
another district. Ignore this for pre-war (1939) clubs. A map of the area would be helpful.
10. Provide a list of each District Governor since your district was created, and specify any important events or achievements
    during their reign.
11. If any clubs in your district had members of RI, RIBI or of national importance, list them. As some readers may not know
them, describe briefly their claim to fame.
12. Show any clubs which may have developed programmes of significance  like 'Shelter Boxes'.
13. Describe any district initiative of which you can be justly proud.
14. Provide photographs in "jpg" format and with captions, of important district events or activities. In 2028, today's things will
    be historical.

15. Any amusing or interesting stories from previous district conferences.

15. Forward the completed history to us by contacting RGHF.
16. Don't forget to date  and sign it................ and to check annually if an update is needed.
17. The history should be no more than two (2) pages of Word text.

If you are still not sure, go to these pages and see what others have done.

This page contains other suggestions for Club histories and RGHF Awards for best history.
