The Rotary Club of Santos, founded on 26 February 1927 and accepted on May 21, 1927, when its charter was issued establishing the Rotary International, is the third club in Brazil. The first, previously noted, was the Rotary Club of Rio de Janeiro, founded on December 15, 1922 (accepted on 28 February 1923), and the second was the Rotary Club of São Paulo, founded on 13 February 1924 (admission on March 24, 1924).

After several talks, met at the office building of the honorable Citty Co. Dr. Bernard F. Browne, manager of Cia Citty, Dr. Ismael Coelho de Souza, the Cia Docks of Santos and João Carlos de Mello, exporter of coffee, to discuss the foundation in the city of Santos, a Rotary Club.

The Rotarian Henry Irving Gallyon, 1st Secretary of the Rotary Club of São Paulo (this is the best club of the unit in training), also came to help and guide its creation. He made extensive explanation about Rotary and the Ideal of Service could provide real benefits to their community and the businessmen and professionals, disseminating professional ethics in classes that would represent the original members.

After other necessary clarifications, the Rotarian Gallyon finalized suggesting sending a circular to businessmen and professionals from the council, calling for them to complete in a noble order, making him one of the founding members of the Rotary Club of Santos.

A circular distributed was received with general sympathy that the invited meeting is on February 26, 1927 in the building no. 31 da Praça dos Andradas, which was transformed into a meeting attended by 25 businessmen and professionals.

The meeting on February 26 was transformed into the Foundation Board. Dr. Ismael Coelho de Souza chaired the proceedings and did extensive exposure on the purpose of a Rotary Club and the benefits it could provide to the community Santos. Read the most important points of the Statute and the Rules, to know the present.

As interpreter of the feelings of all present, Mr. Paulo Fernandes Gasgon then proposed that the Assembly, by acclamation, was elected the first Board of Directors of Rotary Club of Santos thus constituted:

President Dr. Ismael Coelho de Souza;

Vice President João Carlos de Mello;

Treasurer Dr. Bernard F. Bowne ;

 1st Secretary Andrew W. Marshall;

2nd Secretary Marcos de Souza Dantas.

The proposal was accepted unanimously with warm applause.

The inaugural meeting of the Rotary Club of Santos, held on March 3, 1927, in the hall of the restaurant of the Club's Scholarship, was the attendance of the 25 founder members and the following Rotarian visitors: IB Suthar, the Rotary Club of Tampico; Oscar Weinshenk, T. Lisboa Wright and Rodrigo Octávio Filho, all of the Rotary Club of Rio de Janeiro, and Paulo Moraes Barros, Irving Henru Gallyon, Jorge de Moraes Barros, Cantidio de Moura Campos and Herminio Gomes Moreira, affiliated with the Rotary Club of São Paulo.

The Rotary Club of Santos, founded on 26 February 1927 and accepted on May 21, 1927, when its charter was issued establishing the Rotary International, is the third club in Brazil. The first, with already seen, was the Rotary Club of Rio de Janeiro, founded on December 15, 1922 (accepted on 28 February 1923), and the second was the Rotary Club of São Paulo, founded on 13 February 1924 (admission on March 24, 1924).
